How to change IP Address in Windows 7 & Vista



To change IP address in Windows 7 please follow these steps:

1. Start - All Programs, Accessories and right click on Command Prompt and then chose "Run as Administrator"
                                                           or
2. "Start" and then type in "Search" field "cmd"
3.Right click on "cmd.exe" and then chose "Run as Administrator"
4. Type "ipconfig /release"
5. type "ipconfig /renew"

 


 To change IP address automatically in Windows 7 follow these steps:

1. Start and then go to Control Panel
2. Left click on "Network and Internet" and then choose "Network and  Sharing Center"


3. On the left side choose "Change adapter settings"
4. Right click on your network card and from the drop-down choose "Properties"
5. Under the "Networking" tab
6. Choose "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" or "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and then click on "Properties"
7. In next window you have option between "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" and "Use the following IP Address"
8. You need almost always to select "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" to change IP address automatically
9. Finally click on "OK" and your IP address should be changed.

To change IP address in Windows 7 / Vista

STEP 1:: If you have a router:
ü  Turn both your router AND your modem OFF.
ü  Disconnect the router from your computer and modem.
ü  Connect your modem directly to your computer.
ü  Restart your computer and modem.
ü  Wait 30 seconds for connection to restart.
ü  After restarting, surf to some websites to make sure that your connection is back online.
STEP 2 ::Surf to iPrivacyTools.com/my-ip-address/ and make a note of your current IP address.
STEP 3 ::
ü  Click on your "Start" menu and type "cmd" in the white box.
ü  Press Enter.
STEP 4 ::
ü  At the prompt type "ipconfig /release"
ü  Press Enter.
STEP 5 ::
ü  Turn your modem OFF.
ü  Wait 20-30 seconds.
ü  Turn modem back ON.
ü  Wait another 30-40 seconds.
STEP 6 ::
ü  Click your "Start" Menu -> Control Panel
STEP  7 ::
ü  Click on "Network and Internet", and then "Network and Sharing Center"

STEP 8 ::
ü  Click on the link for "Manage network connections"
STEP 9 ::
ü  Right-click on your "Local Area Connection" and click "Disable".  
STEP 10 ::
ü  Again, right-click on your Local Area Connection, but this time click "Enable".
ü  Wait 20-30 seconds. 
STEP 11 ::
ü  Click refresh on iPrivacyTools.com/my-ip-address/ to verify that your IP address has changed.
